Alice and Lester are a fantastic couple – so glad I was able to spend an evening getting to know them on our engagement shoot on Centre Island. This was the first traditional Chinese wedding I have photographed and it had to be one of the most enjoyable weddings in general. I will do my best to explain each set of photos as we go along…
The day started out fairly normal, with Alice getting her makeup and hair done at her parents place in Toronto.
Then Lester showed up to pick up his bride in traditional Chinese fashion, with the door to his car opened by this cute young man.
Before he could get Alice, Lester and his wedding entourage had to go through a series of ‘challenges’ to prove his worthiness and dedication, the first of which was donning female undergarments.
A sum of money paid to the ladies in the house to represent Alice’s worth. As you can see a crisp $1 bill was the first out of the envelope…
Next up, an eating challenge. On the menu, a wasabi covered cracker, some salt water, lemons and maple syrup.
The fourth challenge required Lester to kiss Alice, only he couldn’t see her before completing all the challenges. Placing her photo on the ceiling was an excellent touch….
“List 5 things you love about Alice and compose them into a rap” – enter Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song…
Traditional tea ceremony with Alice’s parents
Over to Lester’s house for some more tea and food!
Next up was the Mandarin Golf and Country Club for a traditional tea ceremony with friends and family.
I have to commend the club on their service. They had the manager drive us around in a golf cart – he was one of the most friendly and helpful staff members I have ever encountered at a venue. Good job!
Alice’s surprise groom’s cake for Lester.
And finally, a “sexy and I know it” move to end the night off right….
Hope you enjoyed Alice and Lester’s traditional Chinese wedding… I know I sure did!
Alice and Lester – I wish you all the best
